ARTIST'S PRACTICE

Innovations Through Narratives

The artist’s practice is rooted in the clear awareness of the present moment, the things and people in front of her, and the emotions and energy that arise within. Alongside these immediate experiences, memories built over time form an essential part of her expression.

What comes through is a process of investigation and making, fabric and thread, products capturing the mundane and the intangible, always shaping and defining the artist's identity. The work is aimed for all and a global experience.

The work is an ode to children and the young minds, to channel and visualise the potential and energy that is part of youth. The narrative behind the project and the process of making is a message of hope for children and their future.

Expanding on the expressive potential of the embroidery practice, across techniques and processes, the intention is to integrate functionality, materials and fibers, through questioning, trialing and innovation, via subverting the notion of traditional application of embroidery and the fragility often associated with this practice.

Through experimental and playful juxtaposition of materials, as well as intuitive approaches, the artist seeks to connect traditional craft with contemporary life.

Here, embroidery techniques, are applied as a fundamental part to the construction, finishings and functionality of the product.

The "embroidery textile work" exist as tangible objects, inviting audience interaction and engagement. Observing  them closely, complex surface design and techniques layers begin to emerge. The aim is to create work that is experienced through sight and touch, a full sensory experience.
